Read moreWhat are NSW Pink Slips?
The term Pink Slip in NSW refers to a safety inspection of a vehicle prior to registration renewal.
Designed to ensure the roadworthiness and safety of all light vehicles on NSW roads, these inspections are now called E-Safety Checks and are similar to roadworthy certificate inspections conducted in other states.
A pink slip inspection report verifies your car is safe and ready for the road and is required in New South Wales as a condition of registration renewal for vehicles more than five years old. You will receive a notice if your vehicle requires an E-Safety Check Inspection prior to registration renewal.
The reason they are sometimes called Pink Slips is a reference to the old system of having a roadworthy inspection conducted and being issued a pink 'slip' by your mechanic, which you then took to the RTA (as it was then known) to get your car registered.
Pink Slips are now called: e-Safety Checks, and are sent to Roads and Maritime Services electronically but they are still about roadworthiness and safety, hence the name e-safety check.
Provided your vehicle is deemed safe and roadworthy City Central Auto Repairs electronically sends the safety check inspection report to Roads and Maritime Services.
Then all you need to do is purchase a green slip (mandatory insurance) and then renew your rego online, by mail, phone or your nearest MVR.
The requirements of the E-Safety Check are not determined by City Central Auto Repairs, we simply inspect the vehicle to ensure it complies with the requirements as set out by Roads and Maritime Services.
When a vehicle does not pass the e-safety check inspection, City Central Auto Repairs will issue a 'repairs needed report'. We can undertake the repairs required for you immediately or you can choose another mechanic to do the work.
You will then need to have the repairs checked (if repairs are carried out by a City Central Auto Repairs this will happen automatically). Once the repairs have been carried out and checked, the report is sent to RMS and your vehicle can be registered.
Only RMS Authorised Inspection Stations (AIS) such as City Central Auto Repairs can conduct E-Safety Checks in NSW.
